I have two large hydrangea bushes in my front yard and I absolutely love them! They are blooming right now and every year I'm reminded how majestic these tiny white flowers are (especially when combined with roses.)
These lush blooms come in a variety of colors, from stark white to chartuese with hints of blue. Depending on the soil, they can also be bright pink, perfect if you are planning your wedding around the "it" color of 2011-honeysuckle.
I put together an inspiration board with periwinkle, mint green and white as the color scheme and, of course, the main flower featured is the hydrangea. Roses and delphinium as the accent flowers to hydrangeas make lovely floral arrangements.
If you plan on having a late fall wedding, dried taupe colored hydrangeas paired with red roses would make a beautiful autumn color combination. Since hydrangeas can be dried by hanging them upside down in a dry space you could easily use them from your garden and ask your florist to incorporate other flowers into the bouquets or centerpieces.
Happy Planning!
